1. Research Standards

AMARN is a research-focused community. Members are expected to defend their positions using logic, evidence, and scholarly accepted forms of argumentation.

  • Claims should be supported by sources where possible

  • Primary sources, museum catalogs, archival documents, and reputable secondary literature are encouraged

  • Speculation should be clearly labeled as such

Disagreement is permitted; unsupported assertions and bad-faith argumentation are not.

2. Language Policy

The working language of AMARN is English.

  • Non-English languages may be used only within citations or quoted primary sources

  • Discussion, analysis, and argumentation must be in English

This ensures that all members, including moderators, can follow and evaluate discussions consistently.

3. Safety & Liability

AMARN is an informational and research platform only.

  • Members are solely responsible for their own actions

  • Do not attempt any shooting, fabrication, restoration, or experimental activity without proper training and legal compliance

  • AMARN, its administrators, and its moderators assume no responsibility for injury, damage, or legal consequences

Safety discussions are encouraged; reckless advice is not.

4. Legal Compliance

Members are responsible for complying with all local, state, national, and international laws relevant to firearms, black powder, and related equipment.

Content that encourages illegal activity may be removed.

Buying and selling are permitted on AMARN.net, subject to the following conditions:

  • All transactions must comply with applicable laws and regulations

  • Members are responsible for verifying legality, licensing, and eligibility

  • AMARN does not act as a broker, escrow service, or intermediary

Approved vendors may:

  • Offer historically relevant firearms, parts, tools, accoutrements, and services

  • Share documentation of craftsmanship, restoration, and manufacturing

Prohibited activities include:

  • Illegal sales or transfers

  • Misrepresentation of items

  • Circumventing legal requirements

AMARN assumes no liability for transactions conducted between members.

6. Moderation & Organization

Moderators may:

  • Move topics between categories

  • Edit titles for clarity

  • Enforce posting standards

These actions are taken to preserve long-term organization and research value.

7. Professional Conduct

AMARN values:

  • Accuracy

  • Respectful disagreement

  • Evidence-based discussion

Personal attacks, ideological flame-wars, and low-effort posting may be removed.
